ASA 101

2 days. Lake Pleasant
Learn theory and have “on the water” experience: 4 hours discussion, 8 hours on the water, over 2 days.
Course topics include: terms and definitions, parts of the boat, points of sail, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, getting underway, docking, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazard reading the wind and sails, basic knots, and maneuvering under power and sail.
Price includes boat at Lake Pleasant, AZ Scorpion Bay Marina, written test, ASA certification fees, and ASA logbook.
ASA 103
$1100+/pp
2 days-1 night, So. California
Now you can sail, but want to take your friends. That means a bigger boat with more systems. This is a “liveaboard course” Including 2 days, and one night on the boat.
Topics include: read and interpret nautical charts of local areas, anchoring, mooring, reefing, weather interpretation, safety at sea, emergencies such as man overboard, how to treat hypothermia, federal equipment carriage and navigation lights requirements, basic boat systems, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, and basic auxiliary engine operations.
Price includes boat at Long Beach, CA Rainbow Harbor, written test and ASA certification fees.
ASA 104
$1100+/pp
2 days-2 nights, So. California
Ready to charter for a week or more? This course prepares you for your longer trips with larger vessels. This is a “liveaboard course,” including 2 days and 2 nights on the boat.
Topics include: cruise planning, crew safety, managing a marine head, operating a marine diesel engine, onboard power management, underway emergency procedures, mooring and anchoring, managing heavy weather, customs procedures, rendering aid, basic coastal navigation, reading the weather.
Price includes boat at Long Beach, CA Rainbow Harbor, written test and ASA certification fees.
